Tomorrow marks my 2 week anniversary since moving to Berkeley. The house is nice but sparse. The university has a great feel to it and I hung around the library and the cafes for the first 10 days and then was able to ask for a desk at the department. Also sitting in a couple of classes.
I have to say, I quite like the Berkeley area. The atmosphere is so hippy and free thinking and intellectual. Love it love it!!
Maybe I should be a postdoc forever and you can get a real job in Silicon Valley? :-D

Cool can't wait till you come and visit! It just better not be when i am coming to visit chicago!! :-P
