So has anyone been watching the Dollhouse? they had the second episode just yesterday and I must say that I like it so far. It has big potentials. Not the best actors, sometimes it becomes a little bit fake, but it's pretty good. The story is interesting and currently, I am hooked. That's a pretty good start right? :-)
I would love to hear from others who have been watching.

ReplyDeleteI am missing a bit of humor that I would expect from the writer of Dr Horrible.
This second episode was waaaaaay too cheesy with all the "I trust you with my life" connection.
I need some humor... and hopefully a girl that is not constantly pointing out the obvious cheap marketing of Eliza Dushku appearing naked during commercial breaks.
I think it has potential if it takes itself less serious. But it seems the girl hates every minute of it... or doesn't like me looking at Eliza ^.^
I agree - the banter and humour that was such a feature of all of the previous series has so far been absent from the Dollhouse. The show is indeed taking itself too seriously!

Did either of you guys watch The Firefly? I am not sure how much humour that one had either, or maybe the first couple of episodes didn't have them.

Dushkin is sexualized a bit isn't she? the interesting thing is that according to the NPR interview that I had posted a while ago, Joss (who is a bit of a feminist, viz. having strong female leads) showed the show to a group of feminists and it seems opinions were split. Some were saying she is almost like a prostitute.
Firefly charachters were funny.
ReplyDeleteThe captain ways to deal with serious issues were always with a relax goofy approached.
Remember the pilot? and his wife? their dynamic as well as the M.D. and the engineer girl were also funny.
And wasn't there a brute all force no thinking person in the cast as well?
There is no funny in Dollhouse so far :(
